little infinite Celebrates National Poetry Month

3 minute read

It’s the most poetic time of the year!

April is National Poetry Month, which is our favorite month at little infinite. We get to show our love and appreciation for poetry while celebrating our favorite poets and our community. Most importantly, we get to spend it with you, our li squad!

In efforts to increase awareness and appreciation of poetry, in 1996, the Academy of American Poets deemed April, National Poetry Month. Since then, it has become the largest literary celebration in the world. Fun fact: this year marks the 27th annual celebration of the month!

We have a whole month of fun planned for poetry month. Here is how you can celebrate with us, happy National Poetry Month!

April Poetry Contest

In honor of poetry month, this month’s contest is all about poetry itself. We ask you to think about why you love poetry. What does it mean to you?

Theme: Poetry for Life

Form: Any type of poem, 21 lines or less.

Dates: We take submissions from Friday, March 31, 2023 to 11:59 pm Monday, May 15, 2023.

Voting: Public voting begins April 1st and will continue through 11:59 pm May 31, 2023.

Winner: Winners will be contacted on Friday, June 2, 2021. First place will receive 50 printed copies of your own self-published poetry, second place and third place will receive 10 printed copies of your own self-published poetry.

The bundle includes exclusive poetry and self-publishing guides like:

Romantic Writing Prompts Workbook

Jane Austen’s dashing romantic hero, Mr. Darcy, once said, “I have been used to consider poetry as ‘the food of love.'” He certainly wasn’t wrong. Poetry has a long history of love, of wooing lovers, healing broken hearts and inspiring romances. So, why not turn to the romance genre for poetic inspiration?

We are partnering with our friends at Frolic Media to offer a workbook with 50 Romantic Writing Prompts. This inspiring collection will include poetry prompts from little infinite, as well as romance-themed journal prompts and trope themed prompts from modern-romance pros, Frolic Media.

If poetry is the food of love, then write away. Write about love! Write about romance!
