It’s the most poetic time of the year!
April is National Poetry Month, which is our favorite month at little infinite. We get to show our love and appreciation for poetry while celebrating our favorite poets and our community. Most importantly, we get to spend it with you, our li squad!
In efforts to increase awareness and appreciation of poetry, in 1996, the Academy of American Poets deemed April, National Poetry Month. Since then, it has become the largest literary celebration in the world. Fun fact: this year marks the 25th annual celebration of the month!
We have a whole month of fun planned for poetry month. Here is how you can celebrate with us, happy National Poetry Month!
In honor of poetry month, this month’s contest is all about poetry itself. We ask you to think about why you love poetry? What does it mean to you?
Theme: Poetry Appreciation.
Form: Any type of poem, 30 lines or less.
Dates: We take submissions from Thursday, April 1, 2021 to 11:59 pm Sunday, April 25, 2021.
Voting: Public voting begins April 1st and will continue through 11:59 pm Friday, April 30, 2021.
Winner: Winners will be contacted on Friday, May 7, 2021. First place will win a $300 Visa Gift Card, second place a $150 Visa Gift Card, and third place a $100 Visa Gift Card.
So, if you have a poem that fits into this theme, or are feeling a bit inspired, make sure you enter. If there is the perfect month to enter or vote, it’s probably poetry month!
That’s right, we’ve got a poetry workbook just for this month! This interactive digital workbook is your perfect companion for April. Full of writing prompts, tools, advice, and inspiration, you’ll have no problem putting pen to paper.
If you are trying to reach your #NaPoWriMo goals – 30 poems in 30 days – then consider this workbook your guide. A valuable writing resource, this workbook covers everything from basic introduction to poetry fundamentals to awesome apps to help you write.
The best part? It’s free! Download it, here.
We are happy to be partnering with self-publishing platform, IngramSpark, this month to share tips and tricks about self-publishing. Did you know that Rupi Kaur self-published her first book?
Have you ever dreamed of publishing your very own collection of poetry? Self-publishing your collection is one of the ways to accomplish that dream. To help you better understand what it means to self-publish a book, we’ve joined forces with IngramSpark to gift a Poetry Resource Bundle.
The bundle includes exclusive poetry and self-publishing guides like:
- A Poet’s Guide to Social Media & National Poetry Month Workbook from little infinite
- How to Self-publish and How to Design a Book Guides from IngramSpark

Jane Austen’s dashing romantic hero, Mr. Darcy, once said, “I have been used to consider poetry as ‘the food of love.'” He certainly wasn’t wrong. Poetry has a long history of love, of wooing lovers, healing broken hearts and inspiring romances. So, why not turn to the romance genre for poetic inspiration?
We are partnering with our friends at Frolic Media to offer a workbook with 50 Romantic Writing Prompts. This inspiring collection will include poetry prompts from little infinite, as well as romance-themed journal prompts and trope themed prompts from modern-romance pros, Frolic Media.
If poetry is the food of love, then write away. Write about love! Write about romance!
Of course, we couldn’t celebrate National Poetry Month without giving away some of our favorite books. We will announce our book giveaway on Instagram later in the month, so make sure to follow us so you’re notified when we launch it!
Until then, we are going to keep these amazing prizes a secret.
Get your pens, keyboards, and notebooks ready, because it’s time to get writing. We can’t wait to see what our amazing community creates this month. Let’s get ready to celebrate everything about poetry!
To stay up-to-date, make sure to keep an eye out for more of little infinite’s featured content as we celebrate poetry, books, and this beautiful hot mess we call life on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
