The Classic Movie vs. Book Debate

Mr. Malcolm's List
Reading Time: < 1 minute

If you’re an avid reader, you’ve likely engaged in a debate over which was better, the book or the movie? Romance fans, get ready to debate again as Mr. Macolm’s List by Suzanne Allain gets its movie release on June 30th. That gives you plenty of time to catch up with the book first. I devoured this book in a single sitting; it’s an easy and entertaining read.

Jeremy Malcolm has a list of qualifications for a wife, which includes such items as “amiable and even-tempered” and “has genteel relations from good society.” Fortunately for Mr. Malcolm, he is devastatingly handsome, which buys him more grace than he deserves from the single women in his orbit.

Julia Thistelwaite failed to check all the boxes on his list and is determined to get revenge for being spurned. So she concocts a scheme to bring her friend Selina to London to charm and then reject Mr. Malcolm on the pretense of having her own list of qualifications for a husband and finding him lacking.

I love a good Regency romance with its dance cards, gossip, and besmirched reputations, and Mr. Malcolm’s List does not disappoint.

The movie, stars Freida Pinto and Sope Dirisu. You can watch the trailer here
