National Poetry Month Activity Guide from Poets.org

National Poetry Month: The most wonderful time of the year!

April 1 kicks off National Poetry Month, and we can’t wait. To get in the spirit, we want to challenge the little infinite audience to partake in the Poets.org 30 Ways to Celebrate National Poetry Month activities.

See the full list of activities here: Poets.org 30-Day Challenge

We love the list, and encourage you to participate as much as possible. Our three favorite must-do’s, though, are listed below.

If you haven’t already, take a moment to sign up for their Poem-a-Day newsletter, which is an inspiring way to ease into any morning.

Add art to your neighborhood by chalking a poem onto a sidewalk. If you want to take your efforts beyond the reach of the sidewalk in front of your residence, you can ask a local independent book store if you can adorn the walkway outside their front door. Snap a photo and share with us (and with Poets.org) on Instagram. And be smart about where you chalk your verses, though. Don’t get arrested for vandalism. Get permission if you need it before you get started.

Few things connect you to the poets you admire more thoroughly than the food and drinks they enjoyed. Bonus gold stars awarded to anyone who hosts a National Poetry Month soiree that features a menu themed around the food and drink of their favorite poets.

Make sure to share your National Poetry Month outings, events, and initiatives with us by tagging @littleinfinite, and @poetsorg.
