Zodiac Self-Care: Leo

Reading Time: 5 minutes

Let’s roar regal Leos.

We all know that our zodiac sign is about more than just our horoscope. It helps us gain insight into who we are and why we have certain traits, habits, and personality quirks. Why not use our zodiac to better our self-care?

Let’s put a zodiac touch on our self-care routine.

It’s Leo season! Our lovely Leos are extroverted, adventurous souls who love competition. Self-care for Leo is all about tapping into what keeps them moving – literally. Leo is all about energy, putting their fiery passion into their goals, sharing their energy with other Leos, and charging their personal spaces with regal beauty. So, let’s put that energy to good use.

Competition

Leos love a good sense of competition. Why not get their weekly dose of exercise out of it? This is why you might find a gym full of Leos at CrossFit and boot camp. But if going to the gym isn’t quite what you’re looking for, participate in some competitive sports.

Try fencing, tennis, or martial arts if you want a bit of individual competition. But, Leos are great at sharing encouragement and energy with others, so rock out some team sports. Embrace your inner leader, Leos.

Follow other Leos online

Make sure to curate your social media feed. Get rid of anything negative that will suck away your energy. Follow some of your fellow Leos for inspiration and energy.

Of course, a social media re-vamp always needs a great meme account to follow. Here is one just for Leos.

Vacation – Hang in the sun

Fire signs thrive in the sun, so shine on Leos!

We all need a vacation, but Leo’s will feel the most recharged after a fun vacation in a sunny location. That doesn’t mean that they have to spend their time laying out on a beach. Why not try a desert adventure? Leo’s can fill their days with adventure out in the sun and still return home refreshed.

Lonely Planet Dubai & Abu Dhabi - Self-Care for Leo

Lonely Planet Dubai & Abu Dhabi

If you are looking for a destination that is the perfect combination of sunny beaches and desert adventure, then head off to Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Spend the day racing across sand dunes or joining a camel caravan, then spend the evenings relaxing on the beaches of the Persian Gulf. Soak up the sun and step out of your comfort zone.

Staycation

When you can’t get out for an IRL vacation, then enjoy a staycation! Try doing some yoga in the park to get yourself moving while also soaking in that vitamin D.

Or, if you don’t want to move, sling up a hammock or put down a blanket in the sun! Keep your brain thinking of adventures with a thrilling read.

Black Leopard Red Wolf Marlon James

Black Leopard, Red Wolf, by Marlon James

If you are looking for a thrilling adventure, then grab this book of the fantasy shelf. Drawing from African history and mythology, this book follows the story of Tracker. Tracker is tasked with hunting down a young boy. He is good at his job, he is a hunter after all, but this young boy continues to illude him as he journies through ancient cities and dense forests. Soon, Tracker has to break his own rule and join a band of hunters to find the boy. But, he starts to ask himself, who is this boy, and why is he so important?

Connect with other Leos

Leos tend to be extroverted and radiate their energy outward. So, when a Leo needs a recharge, the best place to find that energy is from another Leo. If you have Leo friends, seek them out for a night of drinks and gossip. If you don’t, grab a book by a Leo.

Dreams from My Father, by Barack Obama - Self-Care for Leo

Dreams from My Father, by Barack Obama

President Barak Obama is a Leo and this book exudes his Leo energy. His memoir focuses on growing up as the son of an African American father and a white mother. Growing up with his mother, Obama sees his father as more of a myth than a man. Only after his father’s death does Barack seek out his past. This journey takes him from New York to Hawaii via Kansas, and finally to Kenya, where he meets the African side of his family.

Scrappy Little Nobody, by Anna Kendrick - Self-Care for Leo

Scrappy Little Nobody, by Anna Kendrick

When you need a little pick me up, look to fellow Leo, Anna Kendrick. Known for her singing, acting, and comedy skills, it isn’t surprising that her book is just as funny, charming, and a little weird – just like her. Describing herself as small, weird, and “10 percent defiant,” Kendrick takes readers through her crazy little brain. From her unrequited crushes to her binder full of butt doodles, this book follows Kendrick from her days living a double life as an actress and normal middle schooler, to the dazzling star we know today.

Find your Fire – Self-care and Self-discovery

Sometimes the first step to self-care is actually taking the first step towards self-discovery. This is especially true for Leos. Finding their passion is a great motivator. Feeling stuck in a rut or unsure of where to go next? Figure out what you are passionate about and charge right at it. Here is a little inspo.

Things Are What You Make of Them

Creative minds understand other creative minds. If you are creative then add this self-help book to your TBR pile. Adam J. Kurtz offers life advice for creatives by sharing wisdom, empathy, and advice from one working artist or another. Though you don’t have to be a working artist to benefit from this book. This book is handwritten, full-color, and full of wry and cheeky writing that will empower and inspire anyone who wants to live a more creative life.

Make your space sacred and regal

Leos are regal. They are bold and dramatic! They take after their lion after all, and what animal is more regal than the king of the jungle. So, naturally, Leos want to have a sacred and regal space. Whether you are just a fan of the finer things, or you want to embrace the dramatic side of your sign, you should feel inspired to create your own perfect space.

Make a list

Be honest, Leo, do you have a lot of lists? There isn’t anything wrong with keeping a to-do list. Actually, for Leos, lists are the best ways to get something done. It might also just be something therapeutic and fun to do.

Here are a few of our favorite list-making books. The first will help you list your way to achieving your goals, while the second will just be flat out fun.

The 52 Lists Project: A Year of Weekly Journaling Inspiration, by Moorea Seal - Self-Care for Leo

The 52 Lists Project: A Year of Weekly Journaling Inspiration, by Moorea Seal

One list per week equals a year of joy, especially for Leos. This undated journal uses weekly lists to help you discover your beauty, joy, creativity, and power. Each list comes with a prompt and plenty of space for you to list your heart out. These lists can be actionable or symbolic. Sometimes they just might be for fun. By the end of the year, you’ll be that much further down your path of self-discovery.

These are only a few ways Leos can use self-care to recharge. Some of these self-care practices might seem like a lot of work to other signs, but that is one of the many ways we are all just a little different. How do you use your zodiac to relax?
