Celebrate Black History Month through Learning, Supporting, and Sharing
“The thing about Black history is that the truth is so much more complex than anything you could make up.”
Henry Louis Gates, Jr.American historian, literary critic, professor, and filmmaker.
Black history is American history, and this year it’s important that we take the time to truly celebrate it. African American and Black men and women have been vital to building this country and have made incredible contributions to American culture and influenced media, music, film, and more throughout the world.
In 2025, lets celebrate Black History Month using our minds, wallets, and voices. Take the opportunity to visit museums or local historic sites to learn about your local Black history. Shop and support local black-owned businesses or purchase products from black stores online. Finally, take time to share the work of black creators through film, television, music, and books.
Here is a curated list of a few of the many unique and creative ways you can celebrate Black History Month this year.
Explore the National Museum of African American History & Culture
Not everyone is lucky enough to be able to visit the National Museum of African American History & Culture during Black History Month. But that doesn’t mean we can’t explore the exhibits, examine the history, and enjoy the many programs the museum offers.
The Museum of African American History & Culture is one of many museums in the country that offers a virtual tour of it’s exhibits. Through the Searchable Museum, you can step into the past and explore the museum’s Black History Month theme “Invisible Changemakers of Industry: African Americans and Labor.”
