Buzzfeed calls The Second You’re Single by Cara Tanamachi a Most Anticipated Romance
There isn’t a better way to celebrate AAPI month this May, than with The Second You’re Single.
Sora Reid is a freelance writer who has a different mindset from her family; they are all driven and motivated while she is content with the status quo. As a Japanese-American, her mother is old-school strict. With love, but also overly harsh, she often implies that Sora should shed a few pounds. And countless times mentioned how she should find a husband.
But Sora is content with being single. In fact, she’s sworn off love. She dislikes Valentine’s Day…like really dislikes it, so she decides to remain single for the entire month of February. In her writing, she begins to encourage others to #gosolo and empower all her single women readers out there. Anyway, she’d much rather stay at home, live life off her schedule, and enjoy life with her pitbull rescue, bacon, and tequila.
As it always happens, Sora bumps into an old elementary schoolmate, Jack Mann, who has grown up very nicely. She starts finding herself thinking maybe she doesn’t want to “#gosolo” after all. But she can’t let down her readers, can she?
Cara Tanamachi’s romcom novel is hilarious and charming and is for anyone who has sworn off love and is looking for a novel filled with characters you can root for.
