Creative Writing Prompts for When You’re Burnt Out, Stuck, or Facing Writer’s Block

The relentless cursor. The blank canvas. The empty project folder. The unresolvable stanza. The condescending “Create” button. Creatives know the feeling well as we’ve all been there. The act of creation is challenging, complex, and nonlinear. Sometimes, I think it’d be so nice to follow a series of simple steps and, bada bing, art! But all too often, creating quality work requires a great deal of us:   Practice Energy Time Arguing with one’s muse Collaboration Research Study Grappling with the creative process itself *Failure*   And quite often in our hurried, data-driven culture, the creative process is forced into a strict timeline with deadlines. This is especially true for workforce creatives; however, hobbyists, too, often have perceived timelines, even if there’s more flexibility. Is it any wonder that creatives regularly feel exhausted, creatively blocked, burned out, stressed, frustrated, and overwhelmed? So, what is the best method for moving forward when the creative process comes to a screeching halt? Creative writing prompts are an excellent way out of creative tight spot.
