The Romance Read Loved by the New York Times

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue
Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is pure magic.

Addie LaRue wants one thing, and that is to live a life bigger than France in the early 1700’s will allow for a woman. On the day of her wedding, desperate, she trades her soul for her freedom but there is a catch; she will live freely and forever, but she will leave no trace of herself in anyone’s memory.

The last time I remember being so entranced by a story was when I read the galley of The Time Traveller’s Wife. Although I’m much later to the party for The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, which has spent over twenty weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, my fervor for this novel is just as strong.

There is history, adventure, horror, loneliness, and love in this novel. It asks the big questions of life, identity, and meaning, wrapped in such a lovely story it never feels weighty. It’s the kind of tale you simultaneously want to gobble whole and savor slowly.
