Summer Romance Book Reviews
The Love Haters by Katherine Center
There’s a fine line between love and love-hating in the newest laugh-out-loud, all the feels rom-com by New York Times-bestselling author Center.
Paradise isn’t always perfect. As Katie gets entangled with Hutch (the most scientifically good-looking man she has ever seen…but maybe a bit of a love hater), along with his colorful aunt Rue and his rescue Great Dane, she finds herself trapped in a lie. Or two.
With the swim lessons, helicopter flights, conga lines, drinking contests, hurricanes, and stolen kisses that ensue against the backdrop of Key West, this dazzling story zips by in the most delightful way.
“Center’s latest is a charming romp full of all the elements readers have come to expect from her: endearingly guarded characters thrust into a situation that opens up their worlds in the best way.”—Booklist
Say You’ll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez
There’s no such thing as a perfect guy, but Xavier Rush comes disastrously close—a gorgeous veterinarian giving Greek god vibes who volunteers in his spare time. But after one incredible and seemingly endless date, Samantha is forced to admit the truth, that her family is in crisis and any kind of relationship would be impossible.
With all of the book buzz surrounding her name, I’ve been curious about Jimenez’s work for a while. These lovable leads embark on a long-distance relationship and must tackle several emotional obstacles together. It was easy for me to root for them from start to finish!
Also, Jimemez effortlessly wove humor throughout which gave her story the effervescence one expects from a summer romance book.
Promise me Sunshine by Cara Bastone
Grieving the loss of her best friend, Lenny’s life is turned upside down when she meets a grumpy stranger who swears he can help her live again, in this heartwarming romance by the author of Ready or Not.
After reading the premise, I instantly added it to my TBR list. I’m a sucker for a slow-burn romance. Also, I loved the thread of grief which added some gravity to the story. Bastone handled the sensitive topic beautifully and made it the rich soil through which a love story bloomed.
“…I was laughing, sobbing, and everything in between. The story left me breathless and stayed with me long after I reached The End.”—Amy Ewing, New York Times-bestselling author of The Lone City trilogy
The Ripple Effect by Maggie North
A grumpy burnt-out physician and a sunshine psychologist must fake an engagement to save his whitewater canoeing/relationship therapy startup in North’s sparkling second novel about starting over.
This second chance romance unfolds in the stunning Canadian wilderness at a therapy camp, which gives outdoorsy vibes perfect for a summer read.
This summer romance book features crackling chemistry, a tattooed and feisty female lead, and a gentle, burly male lead with the nickname McHuge. What’s not to love?
Here Beside the Rising Tide by Emily Jane
A romance author takes a trip to her childhood beach home, but her summer is upended by the startling return of a deceased childhood friend, newfound love, and . . . sea monsters?
As Jenn grapples with work deadlines, spirited children, and her burgeoning interest in a very sexy contractor, alarming and mysterious events unfold along the coast.
I enjoyed the action and adventure Jane incorporated, not to mention the humor (primarily comical moments with Jenn’s kids). The splash of sci-fi made this summer romance bookwhimsical and refreshing!
One Golden Summer by Carley Fortune
A radiant escape to the lake from the #1 New York Times-bestselling author of Every Summer After and This Summer Will Be Different.
Sun-filled days and warm nights out on the lake with Charlie are a balm for Alice’s soul, but when she looks up and sees his piercing green gaze directly on her, she begins to worry for her heart. Because Alice sees people—that’s why she’s a phenomenal photographer—but she’s never met someone who looks and sees her right back.
As popular as Every Summer After was, many readers are praising Fortune’s latest book and saying they like it even more than its predecessor!
So, grab your beach/book bag, slather on some sunscreen, head outside, and dive into your next unputdownable summer romance book!
