Actress to Poet: Megan Fox Publishes Poetry Collection

3 minute read

I’ve spent my entire life keeping the secrets of men, my body aches from carrying the weight of their sins. – Megan Fox

Known for her beauty, acting, and outspoken personality, Megan Fox is one of the most talked about celebrities in the world. She broke onto the scene in 2001 but became a household name after starring in the 2009 Transformers franchise. Since then, she has made headlines for everything from her looks to her fashion to her love life.

Today, however, she is making headlines about her latest venture, poetry. Pretty Boys Are Poisonous, by Megan Fox is a poetry collection that explores themes of sexism, misogyny, and trauma. Much like Megan herself, this book is raw and unflinching. She doesn’t shy away from discussing her personal experiences or the experiences of being a woman in a patriarchal society.

“These poems were written in an attempt to excise the illness that had taken root in me because of my silence.”

“Some of it is literal, while other parts are allegorical. Some poems contain a Grimm’s-fairy-tale-type element, and others serve the same purpose as memes in online culture,” Fox said of her collection during an interview with People. Many fans are hoping that the book will give readers insights into Fox’s love life and current relationship with musician Machine Gun Kelly.

Poetry is a beautiful way to share stories and lift voices. This is why we always celebrate poetry at little infinite. Megan’s poetry is no exception. This collection is a powerful reminder we all have a voice and shouldn’t be afraid to speak up.

Pretty Boys Are Poisonous, is a must-read collection for anyone who has ever been silenced. Fox’s poetry is a testament to her strength and resilience as a woman simply trying to live and work within the entertainment industry. She is not afraid to speak her mind, even when it means challenging the status quo.

“I’ve been in the public eye for a long time and my career has been one long witch hunt.”

When asked in an interview with E! News if she was nervous about what reviewers will say about her book, she seemed prepared for anything. “I’ve been in the public eye for a long time and my career has been one long witch hunt,” she said. “So nervous? No. I expect a mixture of admiration and vitriol from the public.”

This heartbreaking and dark collection of 70 poems explores how everyone loses themselves bit by bit as we try to fit ourselves into different shapes to please those we love.

Fox describes the collection as a way to inspire others to “take back their happiness and their identity.” The world knows Megan Fox for being a highly sexualized box-office actress typecast to fit a certain mold. But in these pages, Fox is honest about herself, even using her wicked humor to tell her story.
